Working as a digital marketer for about a decade, I can tell you that this book is for those of us who were exposed to, educated about and practiced traditional marketing such as TV ads, magazine ads, PR ads, etc. I view this book as the “final reminder” to those marketers who are still using those old approaches for most of their marketing campaign. If you have been working in a marketing department for a decade or two, and seeing the results of your marketing decrease over the years, then you should read this book.

On the other hand, for those who have recently graduated from college or have worked just a few years in a marketing department, you are already familiar with the terms under discussion: Content Marketing, Digital Marketing, Search Engine Optimization (SEO), etc. Therefore, some books I would recommend that you read, which will benefit you much more, are:

  2. Epic Content Marketing by Joe Pulizzi
  3. Inbound Marketing by Brian Halligan and Dharmesh Shah
  4. Experiences: The 7th Era of Marketing by Robert Rose and Carla Johnson
  5. Hooked by Nir Eyal with Ryan Hoover

As marketers, we love sound, practical recommendations, especially from the people who really “walk the talk.” You will find any of these books worth your time and money. I also think you will get excited to implement a number of insightful ideas you learn from these books in your marketing campaign.
